35-EX.

I have received your memos, of the 30.9.36. re mileage in London.

I gave H.F. Hamilton instructions that the car had to run in London under traffic conditions only that we wanted the results of behaviour of the clutch and over oiling. He was not to run otherwise without receiving word from myself or you.

I have sent you the following telegram (:-

" Cannot understand Phantom mileage in London gave definite instructions for traffic work only "

Hancock.

I also gave instructions that no Sunday running was to be done, but to work the full Saturday. If they are running Sunday I don't know the reason.

I am sending G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Gardiner and F.{Mr Friese} Walsh over with the Bentley, with instructions to return to London to run shifts on 35-EX.

Re Silent tappets sticking.

All our tests proved that we had to go to .004 clearance to overcome the trouble you mention.
