26.G.VI RADIATOR.

As mentioned in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.2/MH.{M. Huckerby}12.1.38 we are instructing a modified form of radiator bottom tank and radiator outlet pipe for the 100 production sets of Wraith parts, similar to PD.19, and accordingly wish to put this scheme on 26.G.VI for 15,000 miles test.

By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is detailing the necessary pieces at the moment. Will you please produce a set of pieces as soon as you get the details and forward the bottom tank complete with all fittings except outlet pipe, to Messrs. John Marston Ltd., Wolverhampton, marking it "For the attention of Mr.Dunn". Messrs. Marston will dap-solder a matrix to the tank and return the unit to us within approximately 1 day. It can then have the top tank and other fitting from 26.G.VI not fitted to it and be fitted to 26.G.VI radiator when the car is in the shop.

It is particularly important that this scheme should get on the car before it goes away.

Will you also please have a copper tube bent to the internal shape of the moulded bend which is detailed in connection with above scheme, but with approx. 2" of tube extending beyond the ends of the bend as shown on drawing. This will be used as a former for the bend instead of making a mould.

Will you please finally set the radiator shutters after the radiator is on car and coupled up to wings so that there is definite end clearance for each shutter. This is necessary in order to attain satisfactory operation of the calorstat.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.
