To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.9/WH.12.1.38. 600a WRAITH UNDERSHEETS - 26.U.VI CAR. Mr. Wakefield in studying the production of the above undersheets has pointed out that the wiring of the edge of the slot for the exhaust box is expensive and that a considerable reduction would be obtained by forming a pressed bead around the edge. Further, it has also been found on 26.U.VI car that the slot for the brake rod is unsufficiently wide and prevents fouling. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Dept. have, therefore, instructed modifications to the undersheets shown on U.1941 which get over these difficulties and have requested that the four undersheets not yet completed will be made to this drawing. It is essential that this beaded edge slot should be on the 15,000 miles car 26.U.VI so that it can be determined whether any cracking or splitting occurs. Will HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} therefore please arrange to change the undersheet at present fitted to 26.U.VI for one of the four sheets to U.1941, being completed by production, returning 26.U.VI present undersheet for use on the third production chassis. In this way, 3 of the production chassis will have the new type of sheet and 3 will have the older type. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
