-2- HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/KW.7.7.34. (2) I do not want to buy the car for my own use until I have had a run and got an idea of what the body is like. I naturally thought there would be some demonstration cars running about here before I should be able to get delivery. You will also note Messrs. Lendrum & Hartman quote a price of about 2250 dollars which is probably quite justifiable from their point of view but is about 500 dollars more than I thought the car would be. ( 750 DOLLARS U.S.A. ) I did write to you on the 24th May and pointed out that the Buick was rather bigger than I had anticipated, and asked you for some pictures of the various body styles, but I know how busy you are and am not surprised that you have overlooked it. I hope you will understand about the Buick; It was really extraordinarily good of you to take the trouble you have done and earmark an early chassis, but I must say that after trying the La{L. A. Archer} Salle under English conditions I really feel it imperative to have a run on the Buick before I get one for my own use, especially at the price. I expect that a letter is probably in the post, as you said "writing" in your last cable. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
