Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and C. said that in view of this there is no need to worry about providing a means for closing the shutters as it was not appreciated that the shutters closed so quickly after stopping but they had the impression that the water and engine came down to quite a low temperature before the shutters did operate.

38. Not on Agenda. Hub Withdrawal Tools.

C. raised this question and said that he understood it had been arranged to provide hub withdrawal tools in the standard kit about 18 months ago, but he has discovered recently that such tools are not included.

Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} said that there apparently had been some confusion regarding this job and some misunderstanding. He stated that the tool which used to be included in the kit was really quite a small thing and consisted mainly of a screw and nut which was used for holding back the locking plate of the Dunlop hub so as to enable the spring locking ring to be removed.

It was demonstrated in the Test Department however that the locking plate can be held back by hand while the spring ring was removed and therefore the small tool was left out of the kit as being unnecessary.

Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} said that there seemed to be no need at all to carry about on our each car a lot of tools to enable the hubs to be removed and that any properly equipped garage should be able to carry out this job without the provision of special tools in the kit.
