COVERED MACONITE H.T. CABLE.

Yesterday we shewed you a sample of cable of the above description which we have obtained for trial as H.T. cable on experimental cars.

You will remember that previously we had suggested a trial on an aero test engine of metal braided maconite aero H.T. cable without the intermediate spiral varnish treated cambric covering between the maconite and the armouring.

It is now suggested that this later type of covering consisting of cellulose treated cambric sheathing would form a more perfect intermediary between the maconite or rubber internal insulation and the metal armouring.

Your last reference to the matter of maconite insulated cable for aero H.T. was in your Rg{Mr Rowledge}2/LW13.6.29 reporting the visit of Major Ross on 12.6.29, in which you wrote :-

"We mentioned the question of maconite cable for aero engines and Major Ross told us that they were carrying out tests at Farnborough. We have strongly recommended maconite cable without the varnished cambric wrapping under the wire braiding for intensive testing."

May we suggest that you again query this matter with Farnborough and put before them our further suggestion sending them a sample of the cable shewn to you, a second sample of which we attach.
