X.4378. GOSHAWK II. BATTERY BOX. X

Of all the six cars running about with the battery fixed in the frame, four of them have broken the front support for the battery box. All these have the original type bracket as we have not been able to get any of the new ones made and fitted. We suggest however that as the old brackets are breaking so readily it might be worth while re-considering whether the proposed modification will go sufficiently far to overcome this trouble. We suggest this because in the case of one car, the battery dropped off in the dark and left the car without lights, ignition and inspection lamp.

It has also been pointed out, that with the present battery box, there is a danger that if the battery leaks acid at all, it will rot the bottom of the box and the battery can fall through. We are frequently having 40/50 H.P. cars in for repair in which there has been slight leaks from the battery which have rotted the box.

It is suggested that the angle plates at present used should form a strap under the box and fix to the sides of the box much higher up.
