Martin-Hurst blew up his Bentley.
The smash looked like a big-end failure. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} asked him to pay £50 towards the repairs.

He agreed at the time but subsequently we have had a letter from him, a copy of which I attach.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} does not agree that we should allow ourselves to be intimidated by everybody who threatens to sell their car and in consequence we have written to him as per attached letter (copy).
