c/o.{Mr Oldham} Handley Page Ltd.,
Colney St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Aerodrome,
St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Albans.

Re-Your letter EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}12/MH.{M. Huckerby}21.5.36.re:Sparking Plugs.

There have been a considerable number of V7/3B plugs issued here, approx. 17 sets, out of these 4 machines have been sent away, fitted with these, i.e., 8 engines. The remaining 9 sets have been returned, that is including the sets 3 off, giving trouble to A.I.D. and I understand that they are to be returned to the Makers.

I am given to understand that all K.L.G. V7/3B plugs stamped with a letter 's' are being returned, due to faulty Mica, these plugs stamped 's' are those manufactured since January.

The faulty plugs were taken from here by Mr. Jarvis, Chief A.I.D. at Cricklewood, and I believe have been passed on for investigation.

Lodge A.5.B. plugs are now being supplied and have been for some considerable time, these of course are supplied by the Ministry, and as no doubt you are aware they are stated to be approved on points to note Sheet No.695., and I wrote you on this matter on the 13.3.36, which was when we first started getting these plugs, this was also confirmed by Handley Pages' from the Ministry.

Up to now this plug has given no trouble as regards running.

(Sgd).C.P.H.Bate.
