Lec. 1874. 1875. and 1877. dealing with the lower portion of the exhaust system opposite to the engine. The remainder of the scheme is being handled by Mr. Day, and will consist of a silencer of the dimensions of the present 40/50 rear silencer, but fitted with more baffles to secure the necessary degree of quietness. There will also be a cutout of the through pipe pattern, having we think a single butterfly valve at the rear end of the silencer, and a deflector pipe to shoot the exhaust gases when the cutout is operating, in a direction in which they are least likely to enter the body of the car.
