1115. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.4/AP.21.11.36. PH.III. OIL TEMPERATURE REGULATORS. Production tests specified were:- 200 lbs.sq.in. with cold oil. 150 lbs.sq.in. with oil at 130°C. based on the fact that Viscon cooler successfully stood these pressures, that the cold oil pressure in service can reach 110 lbs.sq.in., and that a cooler tested under these conditions successfully ran 15,000 miles. We have since learned that the routine test on the Packard Viscon cooler of this type (made by Messrs Harrison) is 75 lbs/sq.in. at a temperature not exceeding 67°C.
