To GJ. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to BJ. ON. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} JY. PN.{Mr Northey} (NEPTUNE) ORIGINAL [Stamp: RECEIVED OCT 12 1921] R9/GS/10/21. 2. X4470 RE MODIFYING 40/50 H.P. ENGINE. We hope the attached will meet your approval. We are about to make up a number of engines, similar in size to our 40/50 H.P. chassis engine, but modified to adapt them for running as marine engines. They might go under the name of "Neptune", and they have for their object, the using up of the stock of parts in excess of those required for car work. The features of this engine will be, detachable head, and overhead valves operated by push rods, so as to be suitable for the low class fuel often used in the marine work. They will have a carburettor adapted for an induction system for running with a percentage of paraffin with petrol. Many other minor modifications will be made. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
