Dear Mr. Robotham, I was not lucky to see you at the Show, so I am referring to your letter of the 4th instant and the very kind comments you make upon the paper I prepared for the I.A.E. My impression was that in my notes I had inferred that although air-conditioning was a problem for the future, it had not yet arrived, despite the claims of certain car manufacturers. I did stress the benefit of a heating arrangement. We are, therefore, agreed on this particular subject - unless it is that I think it may be a development of the future, whereas you are inferring that such an ideal is not attainable. Concerning oil filters, I am bound to say that your remarks impress me and I would not put my views against yours on this important subject. I suppose the ideal filtration system would be both main and by-pass. During the first two or three thousand miles a lot of material finds its way to the filters and the by-pass is apt to become choked. Silica in oil can also be very rapidly destructive in the case of a new engine. Thank you for the particulars of the 1. | ||
