4. Propeller Shaft (47 m.p.h. roughness)

This has now been cured as recorded in the Minutes of the meeting of 10th May, and the modification to bring about this cure has been instructed for the 26th chassis and onwards.

As regards the first 25, it was pointed out that it is not in evidence on all cars and can easily be corrected on any car.

5. Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}'s report on 27-G-VI

This report was gone through, and it was stated that the worst feature in the view of Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} was the clutch. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} expressed the view that clutch judder was due to the presence of oil vapour, and he put it down to some extent as being due to the hot weather as they have only just run into this defect. It is believed that there should be a reasonably simple means of preventing the presence of oil or oil vapour on the clutch, and action is being taken in that direction. Experimental cars are being run with the thinnest possible oil in order to aggravate this as much as possible in order to facilitate investigation and cure.

6. Replacement Wraith

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/R27.5.38 was gone through and the matter was discussed, and it was agreed that the proposal contained therein should be agreed to. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} was asked for a programme of projected dates for the next Conference.

BENTLEY

1. Second Half of "M" Series

No decision was taken concerning this. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} in the meantime is preparing his new schedule of output based on recent discussions with him at Conduit Street, and he will also state with this new schedule what is the position as regards material for not only Bentley "M" series but for all types of chassis.
