To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Cricklewood. Nov. 13th. 1936. Phantom III. I have sent you the 12 push rods and rocker adjusting screws taken out of 3 AZ 22. Enclosed also is the leather washer from the filler cap of 35 EX. It has hardened on the side which has been nearest the exhaust but not to the extent of those seen in the Test Dept., I am of the opinion that the dynamometer is responsible for the burning of those reported. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} [Handwritten annotations] 30a/c MR Do you agree with this? Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Yes. we came to this conclusion with G.W.H some days ago & agreed to use temporary caps on dynamometer. the main exhaust pipe is only about 1 inch distant from filler cap.
