X7655 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. BY/RD. EFC6/T15.4.29. S.S. PUSH BUTTON SWITCH. You may remember that as we reported in our EFCL/LG8.3.29 (To R.{Sir Henry Royce}), we were and still are dubious about the prospect of satisfactory operation of this new two-way press button switch. We have one of these switches being made up to the latest instructions to send to R.{Sir Henry Royce} (from whom we have received no word) but unfortunately this switch is not yet available. You will remember that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has instructed some modifications ref. E3/M13.3.29, but we do not feel happy about the position even when these modifications are made. We suggest that the possibility of utilising the older design of three point two-way press button switch be looked into because we have had two of these in satisfactory operation, one for 10,000 miles and one for 20,000 miles. The switch we have been utilising in our test rig has today failed rather badly, in addition to which a similar switch on one of the cars in France has been reported to have given trouble. This will account for our uneasiness in the matter. EFC. | ||
