TELEGRAMS: PETO RADFORD DAGENHAM YOUR REF Ha/Wst.4/AD. OUR REF CGFP/GL.{G. Linnett} Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. WSI 30th. October, 1931. Dear Sirs, 20/25 H.P. Chassis Battery, Type 6-TBS7-A.{Mr Adams} In reply to your letter of the 26th. inst. addressed to our Sales Dept., The National Accumulator Co., the lead washers were intentionally left out on the intercell connections. This has been our standard practice on the 3-RRN11 battery for the 40/50 H.P. chassis. On this type we used to have brass washers on the main terminal posts, but owing to some trouble with corrosion they were changed to lead. The reason for having the washer at all is to provide a larger contact surface for the cable ends, and also to provide a form of cover to prevent dirt laying in the pocket in the lid{A. J. Lidsey} formed by the rubber gasket. On the intercell connections the copper connector is made sufficiently wide to act as a dirt cover. We do not think that the provision of washers for the intercell connections will prevent corrosion in any way, but if you wish us to fit them it is a very easy matter. Perhaps you will consider the matter in view of our remarks, and then if you require us to fit them we will send you a supply for the sample battery which you have already received. Yours faithfully, PETO & RADFORD. [Signature] | ||
