To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ.

BJ8/D25.8.26.

Overheating in the interior of Phantom Cars.

During the recent hot weather this matter has received a good deal of attention owing to the complaints from customers.

For your information I enclose a copy of Pn{Mr Northey}2/DN23.8.26, BJ5/D24.8.26 and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/BM25.8.26.

We hope that this matter will receive Mr. Royce's attention in connection with your report to him Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL1/T9.8.26. The matter contained in paragraph as follows is receiving attention:-

" Better results than those obtained by lagging the silencer can be obtained By a fixed sheet of asbestos to the underside of the rear compartment floorboards. In this case the asbestos is further away from the cause of the heat and consequently has less to do than when wrapped round the silencer itself."

BJ.

P.S. Of course the above point is one of those on the list of 12 important points which Sales asked the Technical Department to consider.
