STAMP: RECEIVED 19 AUG 1919 STAMP: LUCAS CONTROLLED ESTABLISHMENT MUNITIONS OF WAR ACT 1915. STAMP: ENCLOSURE USE LUCAS LAMPS Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 16th inst., contents of which we have duly noted. In regard to the last paragraph; you mention that you do not appear to have received a Sample battery from us since the 5th June last - this would evidently be the Sample to which we refer, same having been made in accordance with your Specification handed to the writer when he was at your Works, and we are enclosing herewith copy of our letter of the same date advising it. The point of the matter is that when your Mr. Furner visited us recently he referred to faults in our first type of Battery submitted to you which were discussed around the Table in Mr. Barrington's Office, and the Sample sent to you on the 5th June last was inspired by those criticisms. We should be glad, therefore, to have your opinion on this later Sample which was fitted with a celluloid carrier to enable it to be carried from place to place quite easily. Yours faithfully, JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED. (ELECTRICAL DEPT.) C B Brooks MANAGER & CHIEF ENGINEER. | ||
