Bailey - Chief Engineer} 1113 Amicklewood. 4.5.37. P.III Cross Steering Tube Joints. I enclose a drawing showing how the Paris Depot are dealing with the method of holding the bronze contact pieces in the cross steering tubes on P.III. The split contact is not a success and turns. As reported previously the rating of the springs to prevent slow speed wobble is too high, and does not retain its poundage in France for more than 2,500 miles.
