LONDON.S.W.1.

For the attention of Mr. C.H. Brooks.

Dear Sirs,

We are today despatching 8 Merlin pistons which we should like you to tin plate for us.

Two of these pistons are marked and are actually scrap but have been sent along in case you will have to experiment with bath before tackling the six pistons we require. The piston alloy is R.R. 59 and it may be necessary to experiment a little, as we have only six pistons available we decided to send along the two scrap pistons in which you can carry out what experiments are necessary.

We should be extremely pleased if you could let us have the pistons back with the least possible delay.

We appear to be getting piston scuffing on Merlin and since we have now tried our split skirt pistons with some success the writer has been asked to get these pistons done ina similar manner.

We are still experimenting with our tin plated pistons and you will no doubt be pleased to hear that the results of our preliminary tests show that tin plating certainly has an effect.

cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}
