I agree to high pressure valve drilled with a 1/16th. hole if thought advisable from tests, but not the slotted faces.

I quite agree that connecting links would be improved by being fitted with spring loaded ball ends, (xxxx one spring for two balls, spring loaded in compression, (i.e. the lighter load) and solid in tension for max. high pressure forces.

Spring need not go all the way - rod or tube.

Movement of block limited so that slack limited to slightly more than wear in case of heavy stress.

This would be patentable.
I believe DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} had this in hand.
