Contd. -3- EFC3/T22.9.24. one as a composite battery, three as three further P & R batteries on experimental cars which contained similar experimental element variations to the composite, but spread over three batteries. It was not there mentioned, however, that these batteries were assembled in six-compartment moulded cell cases. The advantages of the one piece six-compartment moulded cell cases over the type with six separate moulded cell cases were set out in Messrs. P & R's letter to us dated 27.2.23, copies of which were circulated under cover of our EFCL/T28.2.23, and copy of which is again attached to R's copy of this report, for his convenience. We also sent under cover of our EFC2/T8.5.23 copy of Mr. Hall's report on the analysis of this material, which report showed the material to be quite satisfactory for the purpose. It will be agreed that the various internal element variation experiments on the three one-piece six-compartment moulded cell cases, which we have on experimental cars, are of the nature of independent experiments to that of the battery case. The number of miles so far run by these three experimental batteries are to date as follows :- P & R 3a has done 900 miles on 3GII and ? miles on 4-GII. P & R 3b " " 5882 " " 4-GII and 9174 " " 3-GII. P & R 3c " " 9893 " " 7-GII. the total mileage for each battery being ?, 15056 and 9893 respectively. The batteries are still in good working order. | ||
