SRN. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M14.5.30. P.2. L.H. INSTRUMENT BOARD X.7772 X.7530. OY. discussed the question of instruments and the instrument board for P.2. L.H. with us here yesterday. There seem to be two separate issues (1) what to fit on the 2nd. L.H. P.2. 25-EX (2) what shall be the final arrangement of instruments. (1) 2nd. P.2. L.H. We are making an arrangement of instrument board which will be despatched to you tomorrow. It is proposed to fit the following :- (a) Petrol gauge - like the American gauge in all its external dimensions - drawing A.14158 size 3. but with a balance pipe fitted in a manner very similar to that of the American oil gauge - Al4549 size 3. We understand from OY. that Major T.P. Searight of the Hobson Co. can produce you such a gauge in a few days. Failing obtaining this we shall have to use the gauge as supplied by America, without the balancing pipe. (b) Ammeter - use the American ammeter which is not a moving coil instrument on this car. (c) Oil gauge - Use American oil gauge. (d) Thermometer - use American temperature gauge. Although this has no electrical connections for operating the red lamp the instrument has some special features which might be improvements upon ours, namely, the type of flexible pipe, and system of mounting in the cyl. head. (e) Clock - use Seth Thomas clock. OY. will try to get a 12 v.{VIENNA} instrument, but failing that we suggest that on this car a 6 v.{VIENNA} instrument be used, and a special lead be brought up to it from half the battery. (f) Speedometer - American. (g) Red lamp - design will be sent from WW. It should be fitted to the patch, although in this case no connections can be made to it owing to the American thermometer being used. | ||
