X.4218 - FORS BATTERY.
RATED AMPERE HOUR CAPACITY - 45.

This battery was received by us 13.8.23 and was at first put through our routine tests.

After giving a suitable first charge at average rate just over 2 amperes, the total amount of charge being 244 ampere hours, it was then discharged at 4.5 amperes, to 10 volts. The hours of discharge were 9.75 hours and the ampere hours realised 43.9.

It was then charged a second time at an average rate of about 4 amperes, being given 97.5 ampere hours. Then it was discharged through a varying resistance of 1.75 ohms, the average amperes were 6.45 and the ampere hours realised 29.0.

After a further suitable charge it was put on a high rate discharge through on an varying external resistance of .100 ohms. The initial current was 87 amperes only, showing the internal resistance of the battery to be too high for our purpose. (We expect over 104 amperes initially). Therefore the amount of discharge given was very poor.

A further suitable charge was followed by another low rate discharge, exactly as previously described and this time 29.5 ampere hours only were realised.

For two periods from - 4.12.23 to 4.1.24 - and from - 15.1.24 to 2.2.24, the battery was subject to daily over-charging at about 8 amperes (5 days a week) with discharging on one day a week.
