x 8796 Order ~~Office.~~ c. ~~Mr. Shelton.~~ c. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY7/H. 26. 2. 25. MAGNETOS. At present we specify the damping of the magneto sleeve at the end of the operating lever to be 3 to 5 lbs. The Experimental Dept. find that this particular amount of damping is not so desirable with our automatic advance. They therefore wish you to arrange to have magnetos delivered with 2.5 to 3.5 operating load on the end of the operating lever. We would like to know before Messrs Norths commit themselves definitely to this amount, as to whether, in their opinion, the reduction of the damping to this extent will produce silencing difficulties in addition to the known trouble of vibration of the controls.
