Will you please instruct the Exhaust System for 20-G4. in accordance with the following specification :- (1) Cast Manifold, Sliding Glands LeC.2897. E.57495 suitable for 1.750 dia. pipe. (2) Downtake Pipe 1.750 outside dia. .104 thick Unlagged. (3) Cast Iron Front Expansion Box .187 thick (R.R.Sch.139 issued 26.11.31) Unlagged. Flanged inlet and outlet. A sliding joint will also be tried at the outlet as an alternative. The design for this box will be supplied by the special office. (4) The intermediate pipe 1.750 diameter. .104 thick. Unlagged. (5) P.2. Short Type Silencer modified for 1.750 intermediate pipe, standard thickness and the intermediate baffles .062 clear of the inner pipe to cure construction noises. (Use existing pressings cut away). The front support baffle to be thickened up. (6) Swan neck to be 1.500 dia. E.57013 Standard thickness. (7) Fishtail to have same outlet area as P.2. by increasing the depth E.57017 - .312 deep. (8) The silencer suspension and general layout should be taken from N.Sch.3357. As this exhaust system may be required for 'U' Series production, it is important to have full details available as soon as possible. BY/SS.{S. Smith} | ||
