To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} -2- EA/G28/8/20 Contd. Referring now to the lid{A. J. Lidsey} carrying the stand pipe, this should be made with five fixing screws only, so that a central boss can be left between the two rear screws for a plug, to allow of the use of a gauge stick. The bosses for the petrol and air pipe on this casting should be made radially, somewhat as in sketch - Referring now to the lower casting forming the sump of the tank, this is located on the centre line, and has become symmetrical The drain plug should be formed with a lip for enclosing the joint washer. This alteration will make the boss on the bottom casting of simple form. It is desired to have more clearance between the indicator float and the stand pipe, so as to avoid damage to the indicator when it is being withdrawn from the tank. (Contd.). | ||
