X. 8490 X. 8992 Our cutout on 7-EX stuck slightly open, .08 about and made a slight extra noise. It was taken down and the bronze casting was found to be distorted, I think by the expansion allowing the valve to overshut and then contract upon the oval valve. Try the casting in iron or malleable iron, bush to avoid spindle rusting, and chance other rust. (Give plenty of end play to spindle if casting in brass or alum.) Arrange screw point as stop for valve, thus - so that it cannot close further than this stop allows, which will push the valve back if contracting on to it, instead of jamming. I think .010 about should be allowed when the valve is shut. Another alternative is to make the disc fit the diameter with stop. This stop will be needed on all the bronze castings out | ||
