In reply to your memo. Ey15/H2.6.27, we append hereto a report of the batteries dealt with by the Repair Dept. during June, July and August:-

Exide - 47.
Peto & Radford - 21.
Foreign - 1.
C.A.V. - 4.
Slem. - 1.
Lucas. - 1.

TOTAL - 75.

Out of the 47 Exide, 17, (36%) were found to be defective.

Out of these, 6 were repaired at an average cost of £2. 1s. 6d., 2 were scrapped by the makers, and we are awaiting reports for the remaining 9.

Out of the 21 Peto & Radford batteries, 15, (71½%) were defective.

2 were repaired at an average cost of £3. 10. 0d., 5 were scrapped by the makers, 2 were repaired free of charge by the makers, and we are awaiting reports for the remaining 6.

The remaining batteries were found to be O.K.
