Hanbury - Head Complaints} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} West, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Mr. West, Many thanks for your letter of yesterday's date with information contained. We are at once making two instruments with R.R.50, by bringing through two platforms in this material. These, for the moment, will have to be sand-cast, and I presume that this treatment will not affect the properties of the alloy? Also what do you think of the question of bearings in this material? They will be very slow speed shafts, i.e. cross - shaft for the mileage 45 revs. per mile. I should not imagine there should be any trouble in this direction? Yours sincerely, H R Buckland | ||
