X1325 To Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}9/KW.26.3.36. Weighing Machines for Suspension Tests. Further to our conversation on this subject we send you the necessary requirements of these machines. (1) To read up to 2500 lbs. (2) Negligible deflection of platform. (3) Negligible hysteresis. (4) Platforms 36" square, or alternatively, arrangements formoving the machines to suit all sizes of car. We have examined the machine in the Test Dept. despatch bay, and agree that a smaller edition of this would suit our purpose. The hysteresis is less than 1 lb. and the accuracy also within this limit. We think it would be better for the platforms to be sunk in the floor, as permanent fixtures are also required in the floor for the jacking apparatus which raises and lowers the cars. Can you please look into the PRICE position of this apparatus. We require it perpetually since the advent of soft suspensions, for spring rate and friction determinations.
