X 4383 EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} /T26.7.22. X.4383 - POST LOCKOUT TESTS ON R.R. DYNAMOS The first dynamo was received July/1922. FJA. marked this near the oil cap. The armature of the dynamo was wound by Mr. Gamble in the special way, reducing the length of end connections. Miscellaneous tests were carried out on this to ensure that the dynamo was in working order. It was then despatched to R. {Sir Henry Royce} for 4.G.II on July 16th. On the second dynamo received, marked B, a fairly complete test was made comprising in the first instance taking it through the specification of electrical operation of dynamo for R.R. Goshawk, with which it was made to comply by suitable adjustment of the control brush, except that the cutting in point was a very little late. Both cold and hot ampere-speed curves and open circuit voltage-speed curves were taken. This dynamo was then handed over on 22.7.22 to be put on 6 Gos.II. The third dynamo No.2 (not marked) received on July 25th was put through the general specification of performance satisfactorily, giving a better performance than B. The dynamo, being required, was then handed over for 5 G.II unit which is at present in 1Gos.II. EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} | ||
