contd :- -3- I hope, if time permits, to get an indicator working on the hydraulic shock absorber to tell us exactly what it is doing. I read with interest the article by the Chrysler expert on Shock Absorbers in the S.A.E. Journal and think that while a lot of the information it contained was misleading there was some meat to be found therein. I believe we can make our shock absorbers really definitely more efficient if we continue our research work, but that at present they are very much in advance of anything else on the market, and over here we are going through production with very little trouble. One of our greatest difficulties is getting oil clean and the shock absorber clean when building up. If we did not do this we get dirt on the valve seats which causes loss of loading and also is likely to block up the air vent; this makes the shock absorber squawk, however it is only a matter of taking sufficient care. We will write you as soon as we have any further information on the points you have brought up. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
