Re AJS's Visit to Derby.

AJS arrived here last Monday night.

It was found that some of the experiments had not reached the Experimental Department, owing to pressure of work in the D.O. These were such parts as stiffer 2nd. Motion Shaft, and alteration in number of teeth of gears giving a larger diameter for first speed pinion. These parts are now, however, well under way and are expected on test within a couple of days.

We are doubtful about putting 14½° teeth on the 14 tooth reverse pinion, owing to the interference causing excessive undercutting, but we will try this angle on the first speed wheels to find whether there is any difference.

We are also proposing to try one of the old 40/50 boxes with the 14½° teeth, to test whether these gears are pushed out with the same force as the present standard 40/50 with 20° teeth.

Now that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is here, he will be reporting on all experiments.

AJS.
