Main Text:
M.40 TEST RIG.

The following points were discussed in conference Friday, March 28th, and memo ref. Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner}1/SW. 20.3.41, was taken as a basis for discussion.

Item No.1 - RE.1810 Crankcase top half.

(a) Jnr{Charles L. Jenner}'s explanation of the necessity for the crankshaft oil seal to project from the rear of the crankcase was accepted.

(b) Three 5" Oil drain holes - It was agreed that Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} would consider increasing the diameter from .1875" to .218"

(c) It was agreed that HH. would issue an amendment deleting scallops on the clutch facing flange.

(d) Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} confirmed that the first three crankcases will be allocated to 8 HP, 10 HP. and 12 HP.

Item No.2 - RE.1792 Oil Pump Drive Shaft.

It was agreed to centreless grind this shaft to .499" diameter and embody a circlip.

Item No.3 - RE.1795 Distributor Drive.

It was agreed to reduce the length of splines from 1.200" to 1.100"

Item No.4 - RE.1629 Exhaust Manifolds.

To simplify drilling, it was agreed the eight flange stud holes should be uniform size. It was left that Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} would decide the size of the clearance holes.

In addition, one inner stud is to incorporate a locating collar.

Item No.5 - RE.1680 Bolt, Crankshaft to flywheel.

Beyond the agreement that the radius should be increased to .025", no further comment was made.
