RE PROPOSAL TO ABANDON "A" TYPE STEERING & USE LONG TYPE CHASSIS IN COMBINATION WITH "B" & STEERING IN LIEU.

At the Conference on Tuesday, the 28th inst., it was agreed that the proposal to abandon the "A" type steering and use the long chassis combined with "B" steering in lieu should be cancelled, as regards its general use in this country. The position is now that we should continue with the "A" steering where required until we have had an opportunity of trying the long chassis (this will be tried by being built into an experimental car) and ascertaining the difference with regard to turning circle etc. When the necessary information regarding the long chassis is available the proposal will be reconsidered. it is under consideration for the new 50 H.P. chassis adopting a 2" longer chassis as standard and 6" longer chassis as alternative, these two being used with "B" steering and the short "D" type steering, but this consideration does not affect the present 40/50 H.P. chassis.
