advantage, made clearer.

Unfortunately I have not so far received our copy of specification 287,258 or 28,240 dated 1937, so that I cannot see for the moment how these are related to the present patent.

The third paragraph on page 2 commences " on the fcrown of the piston is formed an upstanding projection with a flat top etc. This is a definite statement and the word "preferably" is not anywhere included. Therefore it would have to be worded along the following lines to read the same as far as upstanding projection, but should then continue" the contour of which is substantially common to combustion chambers. This though carrying a definite meaning allows wider alatitude in its application.

On the top of page 3 mention is made of using a suitable fuel and the fact that compression can be raised to a neighbourhood of 8 to 1 without increased detonation. I believe it would be an advantage to leave out the statement as to the amoutnt this compression could be raised unless any opposition to the patent were put forward, in which case, if a higher compression ratio could be used with this type of piston than any other existing, then it would be an advantage. It would, however, be better to hold it in reserve.

The next paragraph which occupies most of page 3 is
