-2- various points should he wish to come to Coventry next Tuesday. In the first paragraph on page 1, mention is made in that the "projection should extend over at least one-sixth of the cross sectional area of the cylinder", and my own view on this is that it is not only undesirable, but is not necessary in covering or patenting this particular form of piston. The last/paragraph on page 1 mentions that the object of the invention is to increase the compression ratio in the combustion chambers of cylinders etc. This requires re-wording to read " invention has for its object to increase the compression ratio of any cylinder assembly", or alternatively in place of this latter wording ("cylinder assembly"), "given engine", as the whole of this patent has been tied around putting a projection on to the piston head, which projection will enter a recess in the cylinder head whereas it must also tie a projection of the cylinder head entering the recess in the piston head, which is the reverse procedure, but must be covered as otherwise it forms a very satisfactory way of getting round this patent. In fact, where certain engines have a flat cylinder head, it would be much easier to make a protruberance from tis cylinder head into the top of the piston, than vice versa. I would suggest re-wording the second paragraph of page 2, as in its present form it is rather involved and could be, with | ||
