IMPROVEMENTS ON S2 SALOONS

Further to your memo Gry{Shadwell Grylls}/NH 2 1 1 60, I now have the necessary prime cost information to make the following observations :

4    Provision, with sliding shutters, at the bottom of the front doors for personal effects, (as incorporated on LS's car) this is estimated to cost an additional 10/- per car together with an additional tooling cost of approximately £50.

5    Divided bench type front seats.
The remark that this feature should not cost any more is incorrect and my note of yesterday's date shows that the increased prime cost of this feature is approximately £10 per car together with a tooling cost of approximately £850.

11    Cover for spare wheel compartment.
The estimated additional prime cost of this feature is £1 3s 0d per car together with an additional tooling cost of approximately £1,000. It has been suggested that if it was decided to introduce the cover for the spare wheel compartment it may be possible to abolish the strap at present used for securing luggage in the boot and shown under item 15. The abolition of the existing strap would save a prime cost of approximately £1 per car.
