Laboratory Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. from H1/HEG. 340 H1/HEG.3/JN.1.7.37. Re. Corrosion of PHANTOM lll Water Systems. Water Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/SM Sample 1. Deposit from pump inlet bend. This was chiefly aluminium alloy corrosion product, with a small quantity of organic matter such as oil or grease. Sample 2. Deposit from cylinder block walls. This consisted of approximately equal proportions of linseed oil and aluminium corrosion product. Sample 3. Deposit from cylinder block and head water connecting holes This was chiefly aluminium corrosion product with a small quantity of linseed oil. Sample 4. Deposit from radiator matrix of 35 EX car. This consisted of aluminium turnings and aluminium corrosion product together with a small quantity of iron corrosion product and linseed oil. All the samples contained only traces of lime salts.
