Chassis Lubrication Meter Valves.

Re the testing of the above.

Production do not test these before fitting to a chassis, but check them as a unit. In the Erecting Bay the system is not passed until oil is seen to ooze from every joint-bearing etc.

The Test inspectors also check the various points on the chassis.

Whilst this should prove an efficient check it is quite possible that any one point could be overlooked and passed through with an inefficient valve fitted and which would eventually cause trouble, such as the recent incident on B-23-AE.

We are therefore instructing that all valves are checked on a rig, as they have been previously.

We are also obtaining one of every sized valve used on the Ph.II, 20/25 HP. and Bentley chassis, to ascertain that they give the required flow of oil.
