Propellor Shaft. Vibrations after a certain mileage causing roughness. All cars.*

Water Pumps. Failure of water pump bearings on high power engines.*

Steerings. Evidence of incorrect worm hardening. All cars.

Rattles in
Transmission. Overdrive cars only.

Tyres. Squealing on corners.

We have cures on test for a majority of the troubles, but these have not yet been fully tried out, and where a solution has not yet been found, we have marked the item (*).

3. BODY POSITION.

(a) B.V. Production.

This is not in a very satisfactory position. The production tools exist and to safeguard them, we have removed from Coventry all the wooden jigs and fixtures that might be destroyed by fire. The way they have been stored for the last twelve months will have caused deterioration, for which we cannot take responsibility. The main dies, which are made of cast-iron, are too heavy to move conveniently. They are unlikely to be damaged by anything except a direct hit.

At the outbreak of war, the faults in the pressings that these dies produced were being corrected.

One of the most disconcerting features about this body from a production point of view, is that no proper detail drawings of it exist. We are asking Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG. to make a complete report on the B.V. production body situation as it exists at present.

(b) Limousines and 4-light Saloons.

With regard to the limousine and 4-door saloon bodies for the 98.5" body base chassis. The object of keeping one body base was to enable these two types to be rationalised
