Corrosion of Aluminium Water Jackets on Phantom III.

In order to stop the above corrosion (which is slight and does not damage the cylinder blocks, but chokes our steam escape valve) we wish to try the following

(1) Doping of walls with Linseed oil under pressure, as standard followed by spraying of the walls with Linseed oil and baking without wiping off the external layer.

(2) Walls to be anodically treated, then doped as standard.

The treatments have been evolved as the result of discussion with the Laboratory and the people who have investigated similar corrosion on the aero engines.

In view of the fact that we wish to cure this trouble as soon as possible we should like you to carry out the treatments on the next two Phantom III engines built, in the order given above.
