| S 319 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std. 9/JH. 24.9.36. We wish to determine the amount of heat which is picked up by the circulating water due to the jacketing of the Phantom III exhaust ports, since the heat to water figures for Phantom III are proportionately a good deal higher than the Bentley or 25/30 HP. To do this we require a special Phantom III head to be cast having the communications between the exhaust port water space and the main head water space deleted, bosses being provided on the port water jacket so that unions can be fitted for cooling water to be circulated as a separate circuit. These bosses will also accommodate holes to take the core supports. Attached sketch (modified drawing E.84727) shows what is required. Will you please instruct and complete one such head for us fitted with necessary unions etc.) We shall carry out this test on one bank of cylinders only. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std. | ||
