GOSHAWK - REAR AXLE X.4256.

We send herewith N.sch.1295 shewing a Hoffmann deep Groove bearing, arranged to take the end thrust of the bevel pinion.

We have no particulars of deep groove bearings here, but we believe that there is one of this size given. Mr. Royce would like this tried in competition with the New Departure bearing.

It will be seen that it goes into exactly the same housing, and that all the pieces are alike except the 2 distance pieces between the bearings.

We are aware that according to calculation, both this bearing and the New Departure and the double thrust are inadequate for the maximum load, but it is believed that the way in which a car is used enables these bearings to stand up sufficiently well.
