RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. & I N D I A.{Mr Adams} re. PISTONS. X8040 X5040 I think we ought to add no more weight than we are forced to do. My all scraper ring scheme does not look that it would do any harm if stopped where rings are split, but thoroughly prove that it is worth the trouble: it ought to keep uniform. I do not like smaller pins; is this idea any good? [Drawing of a pin cross-section] Ought not the pin to fit the reamed hole all the way so that they are less liable to break off at the root? That was one idea of the larger pin. The difference in the size of the opening at the joint is nothing compared with wear. Do you consider the pin with plugged ends a success if put in with piston heated? E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
