Thank you for your memos Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}I/R.14.7.39 and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.15.7.39. The former has already been dealt with in our memo Châteauroux I/14.7.39. We are awaiting your comments and a modified bottom rubber. Our complaint of lack of sideways location here has been further shown up by the difficulty we have been having in making the starting handle enter, although it was alright to begin with. It is now necessary to push the radiator and wing unit across sideways. As the engine location at the front is also subject to variations, we think that more clearance should be provided in the hole through the radiator.

Re your queries in the other memo, the "Silver Phantom" is being driven in a similar manner to Phantom III's in the past, and has not as yet been subjected to any exceptionally arduous conditions. The rate of wear of the rear brakes is very reasonable considering the shortage of front braking, the light squeaks reported being the only trouble experienced. Whilst the low servo output has reduced the front braking, it has also made the pedal rather heavy which helps to counter-balance the extra work thrown on the rear brakes. Since attending to the servo, the brakes are back to normal and we will report further on their progress.
