A complaint has reached us from Experimental Department of the difficulty of getting a spanner on to the nut on the lower rear stud holding the upper triangle bearing housing to the main lever housing of the front suspension, the nut in question being the one next to the frame. Alterations were made a short time ago to enable a box spanner to be used on this nut, and the difficulty now arises from the frame stiffener obscuring the nut and making it impossible for the box spanner to approach it. Since the frame stiffener cannot be removed we think the most practical solution is to cut it away locally to clear the box spanner, and N.Sch.4719 shows how this can be done. We think that this modification should be tried on the bump chassis before being approved for production, and would be glad if RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} or Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} could arrange for this to be done as soon as possible. Will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please arrange for a blueprint to be sent to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} in addition to the usual prints.
