-2- It is understood that it will probably be necessary for us to fit the blast tubes to these panels, here. A further drawing is expected from Bristol's showing the holes in the beam to take the rear mounting of the gun and the changing of certain ¼ B.S.F. bolts in front of the rear spars to ⅜ B.S.F., this will be covered by an amendment as soon as it is received. [The following text is heavily distorted bleed-through from the reverse side of the page] GUN MOUNTED INSTALLATION TO BE MODIFIED. With regard to the actual installation of the guns together with their mountings, these will be supplied and manufactured shortly and despatched to the works. ...it has been arranged that the installation of 2 rotor a/c M.M. and the existing guns. The Rolls-Royce gun will be mounted in the approximate same position as the Bristol gun and following in the general position as regards modification involved. Certain modifications to the fuselage will be necessary in order to provide a rectangular hole in the feed chute for discharge of the spent cartridges into the gun body. These modifications consist of alterations to the fuselage members and will be covered by an information Bristol drawing. It should be particularly noted that the modifications shown on these drawings for the installation of the Browning gun on the port side only, should in our case be applied to the starboard rear member. We are going to fit a gun on each side. The installation to the starboard rear member shows is produced only to cover the case where the gun is ruled installed on the port side and this reference on the Bristol drawings therefore to apply to our own installation. A further modification which will be involved is the replacement of the two front panels with two new front panels containing four blast tubes. The two front panels will only contain two blast tubes... with reference to the supply of two new front panels. .O.T.P | ||
